Rescaped 5ft Angel tank
Sat Apr 18, 2009 8:36 pm by Alasse
I finished the 5ft rescape today. Started last night about 8pm Friday night, pulled up at 2am Sat morning (pulling plants, catching fish, draining water, removing old substrate, fully cleaning tank, getting wood just how i wanted it *L*, put in layer of laterite and dino duno, wash new gravel and put in). Started again around 8am finished around 4ish (adding 350 litres of water by the cup full, sorting and planting, clean filter and get the 'darn' thing to go again *L*, turn heater on) so approx 14 hours of work, but i love it lol

Some pics

Clean tank and playing with wood to get it where i like it

After laterite, dino dung and gravel added

Still planting, so only 4ft T8 light running

Finished ~ T8's and T5's running

Now i'm just waiting for it to come upto temperature before adding some fish in.

The cories will not be returning (shocking for digging and knocking out new plants), now the yoyo loaches (diggers, and i dont want them messing my substrate *L*), nor the larger clown loaches (just started punching holes in my plant leaves), i'm going to trade these for smaller clown loaches (small enough to do no harm!

Oh and a suprise *L* I bought a very large peppermint bristlenose male months ago, hadnt seen it since i put it in there...thankfully it is still alive and i am VERY happy to see him!!!

CO2 suppliers in Melbourne
Thu Mar 19, 2009 7:33 pm by davepoole
Does anyone know of anywhere that supplies CO2 bottles and regs for the aquarium in Melbourne. The cheapest I have seen so far is a 0.82ml bottle for around 290$.

Also does anyone know where you get them filled, or do you have to rent a bottle from someone like BOC.

Im setting up a new tank in the next few weeks, its going to be a vision 180L tank, I have bought a dupla substrate heater and will use Dupla substrate.

Anyhelp would be great, I have googled until my fingers bleed.

cheers

Dave

Need a little help with Clown Loach's
Sat Feb 14, 2009 9:25 pm by trep
Hi there,

New to the forum (in fact just signed up then) and i have a question with regards to some Clown Loach's i bought today.

They seem very territorial towards my platy's and dwarf otto's for some strange reason (they chase them away from the fake hollow log i have in there).

I probably did the typical 'new' person thing with aquariums and bought something i didn't know much about. But im upgrading tomorrow from my 40L to a 200L tank and thought that they would do just the trick (am aware of the size they get to) and im wondering if this sought of behavior with the clown loach's is normal? or will it dissipate with a much bigger environment?

Cheers
Trep Very Happy

Crystal Red Shrimp
Thu May 08, 2008 3:34 pm by smooth.
Hey all , iv just picked up 10 of these and i was just wondering if anyone else out there has Been keeping them cause i think they are kinda rare in oz. Even heard they might/should not be imported?

Apparently they can be tricky to keep but iv only had them for 2 weeks and already got eggs. For something so small they really hold your attention,Usually watch them for an hour or so each night in a cold shed.

also any OZ websites/forums about them or any that they would sell (wanting to diversafy bloodlines)?

Anyway really just wanted to know whos got them and what type, pretty sure mine are mostly "A" grades but hoping to trade some BN for the higher ones.
